From our Android mobile we can access various music streaming services such as Spotify, YouTube Music, Tidal and even curiously Apple Music. Some are free if we don’t mind their restrictions, but the normal thing would be to subscribe to enjoy uninterrupted music.
But sometimes we find quite valid alternatives that breathe new life into the Google operating system. One of these SpotubeIt is an Open Source and completely free application that you can download and install immediately to listen to your favorite music.
Spotube has everything you need: playlists, unlimited streams and even artificial intelligence
While perusing the community of developers building Android apps on GitHub, we came across something: complete alternative to mainstream official music streaming apps like Spotify. It brings together the best of Spotify and YouTube Music and leverages those services’ APIs to create an app that doesn’t disappoint.
This Open sourceor as we would say in Shakespeare’s language: Open source. Therefore, we can review and even modify your code since it is hosted on GitHub. As soon as we install it, we encounter an interface that will seem familiar to us. It follows the design lines of Material You, Google’s latest visual language.
This well-known aesthetic improves the user experience by providing a submenu that will allow us to move between the four sections available in the application. First of all, we have a home screen. to feed we can do customize in detailand contains a second tab where we will see music organized by genre. Next, we have the search section, which gives us access to our library and finally gives us access to Spotube settings.
The tab mentioned above brings us closer to exactly this: Spotify playlistsLike top 50 hits by country or other songs we find on popular music service. This is because it uses Spotify APIs to organize content and all playlists. We can reproduce them in their entirety, and the best thing is that it does it without ads.
We do not bypass platform limitations and we are not a “pirated” application. So how does it manage to offer us ad-free music? It’s simpler than it sounds: tracks are pulled from YouTube, not Spotify’s servers.
What Spotube does Spotify database, to eventually go to YouTube to present the audio. This entire process is done invisibly, so we will see a player like any other, working without any extra configuration.
Also not necessary log in We have it as an optional thing with Spotify playlists, downloads and songs we love. It also respects the user’s privacy and only requires one permission: access to local music. Because of course, it also allows us to play the music we have downloaded before.
As if these were just a few reasons to try, but also clients for other desktop platforms: Windows, Linux and Mac. It is compatible with casting to Chromecast and you can download it from the Play Store (we leave a link to the application file) or GitHub. The official Spotube website also gives us more information about how it works.
