Microsoft Copilot is, as Microsoft told us a few months ago, the common denominator that unites various AI-based solutions for the company’s products and services. For some time in Redmond, they have been working to unify product families under the same name, as we saw last year in the unification of their office solutions in Microsoft 365, when they got rid of such a historical brand as Office.
In the case of artificial intelligence, The first draft of the star reached users under the name of the service under which it was hosted, Microsoft Bing. It is true, however, that a chatbot’s approach is different from that of a search engine. It’s true that yes, in certain information, chatbot and search engine integrate very well, but it’s also true that many other uses (and more and more) have nothing to do with search engine functionality.
So we first heard about Copilot when it was announced to be integrated into, more precisely, Microsoft 365, and later when they announced the integration into Windows 11 (and later we learned that it will also come to Windows 10). However, when it became clear that the entire ecosystem was grouped under this nameshe was at an event organized by Microsoft in New York last September, where Copilot and Surface devices were the main protagonists.
So although we can still access the chatbot through a search engine, it has been possible for some time to access it through its own URL and with a clearly differentiated interface, and now Microsoft has decided to extend the scope of this “segregation”, to Publish the Copilot app for Android. It’s free of course, just like using the service from Bing and with the web from your browser, and you can find it at this link. Of course, there’s no iOS version at the moment, though it probably won’t be long before you see one.
And what can you do with the Copilot app for Android? This is what we can read in its Google Play listing:
