He Papa Francisco This Wednesday, he declared during his catechesis at a general audience held in the Vatican’s Paul VI Hall that “there is never a dialogue with the devil” and that “when temptations come, there should be no dialogue and the door should be closed.” .
“You should never talk to the devil. Jesus never communicated with the devil, he drove him away. (…) Be careful. The devil is a seducer,” Francis said during a catechesis on vices and virtues.
And he added: “Never talk to him, because he is smarter than all of us. And he will make us pay. When temptation comes, never engage in dialogue. Close the door, close the window, close your heart. And so we protect ourselves from this temptation, because the devil is cunning and smart“.
“You should never argue with the devil. He is cunning and smart. He even used Bible quotes to seduce Jesus. It is capable of hiding evil under the invisible mask of good. That is why we must always be on guard, immediately closing the slightest gap when it tries to penetrate us,” he added.
He warned that “there are people who have fallen into addictions that they could no longer overcome, like drugs, alcoholism and gambling, only because they underestimated the risk. They thought they were strong in battle for nothing, but instead they fell victim powerful enemy“.
“When evil takes root in us, then it takes the name of vice and becomes a weed that is difficult to eradicate. This can only be achieved through hard work,” he added.
