There have been numerous cyber attacks on the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU).

Denys Gulmagomedov, deputy director of the bureau, told about this in the Ukrinform program “Samokhvalov asks.”

Answering questions specifically about cyber attacks against the ministry, Gulmagomedov said: “There were such facts. And they had some consequences. They were not critical, but this is what allows you to develop and defend better.”

According to the official, the cyber attacks targeted the bureau’s open network, which interacts with the open internet.

At the same time, the electronic document management system of the e-Case office is located in a closed network that has different levels of protection and is not affected.

“The attacks took place under conditions of aggression by the Russian Federation and are frequently detected even now,” Gulmagomedov added.

According to him, the information security system of NABU is well protected, confirmation of this is the received certificate of the State Model Comprehensive Information Protection System.

Additionally, the bureau works with companies that specialize in checking information security, including conducting attacks on information systems to identify vulnerabilities, according to the official.

“We pass such tests successfully from time to time,” said the office’s deputy director.

As Ukrinform reported, on the morning of December 12, the operator “Kyivstar” became the target of a powerful hacker attack, which led to a technical malfunction. Communication and internet access services became unusable.

The company assured that subscribers’ personal data will not be compromised. They also promised compensation to subscribers who did not have a connection or could not use the operator’s services.

The Security Service of Ukraine has initiated criminal proceedings regarding the cyber attack on Kyivstar. One of the versions of the investigation involved the participation of Russian special services.
