At this point in the movie, not paying for a cloud service means either opting for local storage on your phone and downloading to other physical devices (perhaps a hard drive or computer), or resorting to different simultaneous free clouds (with limited space). . In my case it’s the second option, but it means you don’t have a single service or a single account that can store everything, because it doesn’t fit: the 15GB that Google offers for free per account isn’t enough, nor is 2GB Dropbox or 5GB iCloud . I found an ally for this task in the form of an app: It’s called FolderSync, it’s free and now necessary to manage my clouds and important data.
The idea is that if I had a paid cloud service of sufficient size, I would transfer my important folders to that service without worrying about anything else, but this does not fit. FolderSync solves the problem synchronizing information in specific folders to different cloud services (can also be done with an SD card) automatically after setting routes. So it connects the cloud services you choose to a specific folder on your device, so you have to configure exactly which folder goes where.
Simply put, FolderSync a type of file manager that lets you manage your data locally and in the cloudIt allows you to copy, move and delete files from the phone. It is possible to save information such as music, photos, videos, documents and allows protocols such as FTP, FTPS, FTPES, SFTP, Samba1/CIFS/Windows Share, SMB2, WebDAV.
Compatibility is no problem. For this reason, you can sync with major cloud services: Google Drive from Microsoft worked for me on Dropbox or OneDrive, but the list is long (Amazon S3 Simple Storage Service, Box, CloudMe, Dropbox, Google Drive, HiDrive, Livedrive Premium, luckycloud, MEGA, MyDrive.ch, MyKolab, NetDocuments , OneDrive, OneDrive for Business, OwnCloud, pCloud, Storegate, SugarSync, WEB.DE, Yandex Disk.
The version I use is the free one.Available on the Google Play Store, it has been sufficient for these tasks, but sometimes it can be a bit annoying as ads appear in full configuration, so you have to be careful not to accidentally press them. We will see how it works after making the presentations.
How does FolderSync work?
Once you download and install it on the device, this is very important. grant permissions to manage files, as you’ll need to be able to access them to sync. After these concessions, it’s time to tryadd accountTo configure the cloud services in which we want to save our folders and information. Here you will need to select the service and add your account with the relevant credentials.
Notice this you can use multiple Google Drives from different accounts, for example, is something I use to keep my WhatsApp backup in a specific account so it doesn’t take up space on the main account. If you will have more than one account, it will be useful to give them descriptive names to distinguish them at a glance. As you add each account, save it for the changes to take effect.
Then you’ll have to choose which folders to sync and where you want them to go. Tap the folder icon in the bottom menu and select ‘Create a pair of folders’. Now you will need to enter the name (as before, it is better if it is easily identifiable and clear), how you want the synchronization and select the source and destination folder (in the cloud). Tap ‘Save Settings’ when you’re done.
It’s then worth checking out the home screen to view history or schedule syncs, or go to settings (three lines icon) to configure a PIN or notification.
