A Venezuelan citizen was detained by Iraqi police in Basra Airportin southern Iraq for transporting an unspecified quantity cocaine is hidden in the stomachThis was announced today by the Iraqi government’s security team.

“After exchanging accurate information with one of the brotherly Arab countries, the General Directorate for Combating Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances of the Ministry of Internal Affairs at Basra International Airport was able to arrest a traveler from Venezuelan citizenship“, the source said in the message.

The traveler, about whom no further details are given, “put cocaine in bags and he professionally inserted it into his stomach to remove it when he reached the place he wanted to reach,” which is not specified.

“During landing at Basra International Airport f.He was arrested and the substance was removed from his stomach.“, he noted.

The security services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs managed to “detain a dangerous international suspect who used a new method of hiding drugs.”

Drug trafficking has been a hidden problem in Iraq for decades, but the government formed last year has proposed, among other things, to step up the fight against the scourge.
