He South Korean opposition leader Lee Jae-myung was stabbed to death on Tuesday with a knife while visiting the southeastern port city of Busan.
Lee, a representative of the Democratic Party (DP), received stab wound to the left side of the neck around 10:27 local time, when he gave a press conference to reporters.
After the attack, Lee’s condition stabilized and he was taken to hospital.
Meanwhile he the attacker was arrested at the scene, South Korean news agency reported Yonhap.
Both South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol and ruling conservative People’s Power Party (PPP) leader Han Dong-hun strongly condemned the attack and called for a full investigation into what happened. (Europe Press and EFE)
