The world’s largest high-altitude wind power plant, built at an altitude of 4,650 meters in the Tibet Autonomous Region in southwestern China, has become operational.

This was reported by CGTN, according to the report of Ukrinform.

The wind power plant (WEP) consists of 25 large wind turbines covering more than 140,000 square meters.

It has a capacity of 100 MW and produces 200 million kWh. The wind farm will fully meet the needs of 230,000 residents, or almost half the population, of the neighboring city of Nagku, one of the highest cities in the world and the coldest place in China where temperatures can drop. up to minus 40°C.

During the implementation of the project, special attention was paid to measuring the wind force on the plateau, location selection and construction of the turbines, taking into account the altitude and difficult climatic conditions.

To ensure the stability of generator units in extreme weather conditions, developers have invented a special technique for spraying the outer paint layer, which will effectively prevent the paint coating from drying out and premature aging of exposed parts of wind turbines. .

China Energy Investment Corporation (China Energy), which developed this project, noted that a wind farm built at an altitude of 3,500 to 5,500 meters is considered super high.

According to Ukrinform’s news, the country’s largest floating solar power plant (SPP) with a capacity of 650 MW was put into operation in the east of China.
