Microsoft Edge continued to expand its market share in 2023 and is now in second place in the rankings, behind Google Chrome.
Even though Microsoft likes to promote Edge to every new Windows 10 or Windows 11 user and install it by default, it’s difficult to gain much market share. At the start of 2023, Edge recorded a market share of 11.17 percent, but narrowly managed to reach the 12 percent mark in December 2023. According to Statcounter, Edge achieved 11.9 percent.

All internet browsers remain stable in terms of market share in 2023 when we look at desktops (and laptops). Sometimes there is a dip or a peak throughout the year, for example in Safari. In April 2023 it rose to second place, but had to give it up again after a dramatic month in December.
If you look at the mobile market for internet browsers, no one comes close to Chrome. Only Safari can keep up, followed by Samsung’s Internet browser and Opera. Edge only takes part in this with the crumbs.
