During tests conducted by the US military at the Dagway test site in Utah in April, an operator led a swarm of “killers” of 28 drones. Drive tells the details of the event.
According to the publication, the drones were launched from aircraft and ground facilities with four approaches to seven aircraft. The information gathered by the drone sensors about the ground positions of the conventional enemy was transmitted to the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, where an attack landing team would land at the operation area. After reconnaissance, drones moved on to “warning, hunting, extermination, and assessment tactics.”
Air-Launched, Tube Integrated, Unmanned System 600 (ALTIUS 600) aircraft, whose weight varies between 9 and 12 kilograms depending on the payload, were used as drones. The flight range of drones does not exceed 450 km. The ALTIUS 600 can stay in the air for at least four hours.
The helicopter, which the US military plans to receive under the Future Attack Recon Aircraft (FARA) program, is expected to interact with similar swarms of drones.
