Stating that this event is of great importance for Turkey, President ErdoÄŸan said: “Our ANKA-3 unmanned combat aircraft developed by TAI successfully completed its first flight. “We hope that our aircraft will make a significant contribution to the defense of our country with their advanced technology, design and features.”
Turkish media reported some additional details about the drone’s projected weapons-carrying capabilities; Each of the two hull stations will be able to carry 635 kg of weapons. The two inner wing stations will also have a lifting capacity of 635 kg each, and the outer wing stations will have a lifting capacity of up to 100 kg each. The drone also has internal compartments for weapons.
The drone’s weapons include the American-made Mk 82 free-falling bomb and small diameter bomb (SDB), as well as the domestically produced SOM bomb, which is a missile with a range of at least 270 km.
Compared to a light fighter in size, the ANKA-3 drone’s low visibility is designed to ensure its survivability when performing combat missions, including attack, surveillance, suppression and destruction of enemy air defense assets, as well as electronic warfare missions. .
