If I ask you what is Microsoft Edge, There is a 90% chance that you will answer that web browser. The other 10% I reserve for people who don’t know, for those who won’t waste an opportunity to talk about Microsoft, to utter whatever expletives they can think of, and yes, an exceptionally small percentage, but it’s there, and in that sense it has the ability to quite significant influence. Don’t know who I’m talking about? That is, from the company’s own employees, from Microsoft employees.

I’m sure you’re thinking right now that I’ve lost my mind, that hell the company’s employees won’t know that Microsoft Edge is a web browser… but I didn’t say that. I said if you ask them they will tell you something else.. So the next question is of course obvious: what will he answer? Either in a more direct or embellished way, it will focus on being an app that opens the door to artificial intelligence for you.

2023 was a relatively positive year for Microsoft in relation to artificial intelligence, because the quick response to ChatGPT with the Bing chatbot served to put Redmond on the map of a technology that is set to change much of what surrounds us. As a general rule, there is an inverse relationship between company size and response speed, but in this case we were able to see an Antarctic blue whale moving with the speed and agility of a panther. A success that they logically do not want to give up.

Microsoft Edge, an artificial intelligence application with a web browser

As we told you a few days ago, Microsoft has decided to strengthen the presence of Copilot elements in its browser for Android and iOS. Now, this change in orientation is even clearer if we look at the name that the application receives in the official stores of both operating systems. And as you can see in the pictures of both, now the browser name in both stores is Microsoft Edge: Copilot Incorp and if you scroll down to their descriptions and images, you’ll see that we focus on providing access to GPT-4 and DALL-E 3. You can check it out at this link for Android and this link for iOS.

Of course, you can’t argue with the fact that Microsoft has decided to turn Edge into one of the gateways to its AI ecosystem, and I also think it’s perfect that Copilot already has its own apps for both Android and iOS. It now seems to me that this is a clear indicator that if 2023 was the boom year for artificial intelligence, it seems increasingly obvious that 2024 will be the year when we see AI in soup as well.
