The long-awaited Xiaomi SU7 has been “pre-released” and its design, performance, range, security and other details are debuting in the world for the first time. Positioned as a “full-size high-performance eco-friendly sedan”, Xiaomi SU7 aims to push the boundaries of performance, ecosystem and smart mobility space.

Redefining the full cycle concept in the automotive industry

The integration of full-featured technologies is a necessary step for the development of the industry. Lei Jun said that by integrating industrial manufacturing, intelligent software and artificial intelligence, Xiaomi EV will completely redefine the automobile industry, marking a significant leap in its technology landscape.

In addition, Xiaomi’s numerous in-house electric vehicle developments have become the first of their kind globally or domestically. This demonstrates Xiaomi’s 13 years of comprehensive technology accumulation since its inception.

Innovation in electric motors

Xiaomi showcased its independently developed and manufactured HyperEngine V6/V6 and HyperEngine V8 electric motors, which feature innovative technologies such as bi-directional full oil cooling, S-shaped oil circuit design and stainless steel step lamination design.

In particular, the HyperEngine V8, with a maximum speed of 27,200 rpm, an output of 425 kW and a maximum torque of 635 Nm, set a world record for electric motors. To exceed the industry standard of 27,200 rpm, HyperEngine V8 uses the industry’s first ultra-high strength silicon steel wafer with a tensile strength of 960 MPa, more than twice the industry’s leading offerings.

For the cooling design, HyperEngine V8 adopts bi-directional full oil cooling technology and S oil circuit design. HyperEngine V8 is under development and will be mass produced and used in Xiaomi electric vehicles in 2025.

Xiaomi’s proprietary HyperEngine V6/V6s motors have an industry-leading rotation speed of 21,000 rpm, which outperforms the most powerful mass-produced electric motors in the world. Among them, the HyperEngine V6 super engine has a maximum power of 299 hp. and maximum torque of 400 Nm, while the HyperEngine V6 super engine reaches a maximum power of 374 hp. and maximum torque of 500 Nm.

Battery

Xiaomi has also developed its own integrated CTB battery using innovative inverted cell technology, multi-functional elastic middle layer and minimalist wiring system. This provides the highest efficiency of any CTB battery in the world, an overall performance improvement of 24.4% and a 17mm reduction in height, a maximum capacity of up to 150 kWh and a theoretical CLTC recharge range of over 1,200 km.

To ensure stable performance when traveling long distances, Xiaomi uses industry-leading security standards. The robust 14-layer physical protection system includes three levels of top support, three levels of side protection and eight levels of bottom protection.

In terms of heat dissipation, double-sided water cooling uses heat dissipation plates on both long sides of the battery cells, resulting in a cooling area of ​​7.8 m², four times the industry average. Each Xiaomi battery is highly reliable and undergoes the most stringent safety tests, including more than 1050 inspections and a lifespan 96 times longer than the international durability test standard.

Xiaomi Diecast

Xiaomi introduced its own Xiaomi Die-Casting T9100 system and proprietary Xiaomi Titans Metal die-casting alloy, making it the only domestic automaker to simultaneously research both materials and parts.

Xiaomi has developed a basic model quality assessment system that allows individual parts to be inspected in 2 seconds, providing ten times more efficiency than manual inspection. In addition, it also uses Xiaomi Titans Metal, a heat-treated injection molding material with high strength and durability.

Xiaomi Pilot, a new step in autonomous driving

In terms of autonomous driving, Xiaomi has pioneered three key innovations: adaptive BEV technology, fundamental road mapping model, and Super-Res occupancy network technology.

Adaptive BEV technology is an industry-leading innovation that employs different perception algorithms depending on the scenario. The perception grid has a minimum detail of 5 cm and a maximum of 20 cm, and the recognition range extends from 5 cm to 250 m. This provides wider visibility in urban environments, enhanced visibility at high speeds and greater accuracy when parking.

Not only does it perform real-time recognition and intelligently switch to a smarter driving path, but it can also navigate complex intersections smoothly without relying on high-resolution maps. In terms of obstacle recognition, Xiaomi’s Super-Res Occupancy Network technology provides an unlimited number of non-standard obstacle recognition categories.

The system is equipped with top-end configurations, including two high-performance NVIDIA Orin chips with a total computing power of 508TOPS. With top-notch configurations and internal research, Xiaomi’s intelligent autonomous driving system will enter the top echelon of the industry by 2024.

Smart cockpit

Xiaomi EV Smart Cabin uses a “human-centric” interaction architecture and features a 16.1-inch 3K center console, a 56-inch HUD head-up display, a 7.1-inch rotating instrument panel and two seatback extensions that allow the mounting of two tablet devices . It is powered by an automotive-grade Snapdragon 8295 chip with up to 30 TOPS AI processing power, delivering the ultimate interactive experience by connecting five different screens.

Xiaomi Smart Cabin’s interactive interface is similar to that of tablets, allowing users to quickly adapt without the need for additional training.

The car operating system seamlessly integrates major applications, including the entire Xiaomi tablet ecosystem, with gradual adaptation to more than 5,000 applications. Smartphone apps can be conveniently connected to the car console, instantly turning them into car apps. To meet the needs of users, Xiaomi EV fully supports CarPlay, installation of iPad and iPad accessories, and applications on the rear extender holder.
