Dell launches new XPS laptops with Copilot AI button and WiFi 7

The new Dell XPS devices all feature the seamless new design of the Plus variant, now with Copilot AI button and WiFi 7.

We liked the seamless design of the Dell XPS 13 Plus in 2022, but the overall look wasn’t right back then. Now Dell believes it has cracked the code. The new design is now being rolled out to all models. The Plus designation disappears, from now on it is XPS 16, XPS 14 and XPS 13.

The new 2024 models all feature touch-sensitive OLED screens, new Intel Core Ultra chips and a dedicated Copilot AI key on their keyboard. The webcam finally gets an upgrade from 720p to 1080p.

The seamless touchpad features haptic feedback. Unfortunately, the touch buttons are not present at the top. Each model is available in two colors: silver or graphite.

Dell XPS 13 (9340)

The smallest model in the XPS series has three screen options: FHD+ (LCD, non-touch), QHD+ (LCD, touch) and 3K+ (OLED, touch). All panels feature a variable refresh rate of 30 to 120 Hz for LCD and 48 to 60 Hz for OLED to save energy.

The Dell XPS 13 is configurable with an Intel Core Ultra 5 or Ultra 7 chip with up to 64GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 4TB of NVMe SSD storage. Thanks to the aluminum housing, the XPS 13 weighs only 1.17 kg (55 Wh battery).

The laptop has WiFi 7, but this feature will not be available until the Windows 11 24H1 update is released in April. Until then, the software performance is limited to WiFi 6E. You can unlock the laptop using Windows Hello with your fingerprint or your face.

The number of ports remains limited, as is the case every year with XPS devices with 2x USB-C (Thunderbolt 4).

The Dell A European recommended retail price is not yet known, nor is the availability of the device.

Dell XPS 14 (9440)

For the first time, a 14-inch model is also available within the XPS series. The Dell XPS 14 is available in two screen options: FHD+ (LCD, non-touch) and 3.2K+ (OLED, touch). The LCD panel supports a variable refresh rate between 30 and 120 Hz, OLED can work between 48 and 120 Hz.

In addition to the integrated Intel Arc graphics component, you can also configure the Dell XPS 14 with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 (6 GB GDDR6, 30 watts). Without an Nvidia card, a 60-watt USB-C charger is included; with Nvidia you get a 100-watt charger. The battery has a capacity of 69.5 Wh.

It is noticeable that the Dell XPS 14 does not have WiFi 7, unlike the other two XPS models. Here you have to make do with WiFi 6E. Thanks to the slightly larger housing, you can enjoy more connectivity: 3x USB-C (Thunderbolt 4), 1x microSD card reader and a jack connection.

Configurations are only possible with an Intel Core Ultra 7 with up to 64GB LPDDR6x, 4GB NVMe SSD storage in a 1.68kg chassis.

The Dell A European recommended retail price is not yet known, nor is the availability of the device.

Dell XPS 16 (9640)

The top model is the Dell XPS 16 when it comes to technical data. Thanks to the larger housing, you can configure up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 (8 GB GDDR6, 60 watts). When it comes to processors, you can choose between an Intel Core Ultra 9 or Ultra 7 chip. Otherwise, the configuration options are identical to the other XPS models.

There are two screen types to choose from: FHD+ (LCD, non-touch) and 4K+ (OLED, touch). The LCD panel supports a variable refresh rate between 30 and 120 Hz, OLED can work between 48 and 90 Hz.

Like the XPS 13, the Dell laptop includes a 130-watt USB-C charger. The number of connections is the same as the Dell XPS 14.

The Dell A European recommended retail price is not yet known, nor is the availability of the device.
