Negotiations are continuing on the transfer of Polish MiG-29 fighters to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was revealed by Andriy Deshchytsia, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Warsaw, in an interview with BBC Ukraine. This issue has not been removed from the agenda of Ukrainian diplomats. Answering a clarifying question about the transfer of the MiG-29, Deshchytsia said:
«Negotiations are ongoing and we continue to discuss how and when they can be used.».
The Ukrainian Ambassador to Warsaw believes in a positive decision, as in Polish tanks.
«In particular, the issue of the transfer of combat aircraft is on the agenda and we are gradually solving it. At first it was hard to believe that Poland could deliver the tanks. But it happened: first a small group, then a large group, then an even larger group, and soon several hundred tanks left Poland for Ukraine.“- said Deshchytsia.
According to him, the negotiations take a long time, since they include not only Ukraine and Poland, but also the USA and NATO.
«It turned out that this decision was not so easy to take within NATO. It should be consolidated and agreed upon. And it is not easy to achieve consensus among all NATO countries. But we need to work on it“- said the ambassador.
Deszczyca stressed that Poland supplied Ukraine with a large amount of military equipment and machinery. The total amount of aid is up to 4 billion dollars, and half of this aid – in the form of military equipment, supplies and equipment. The Ambassador also confirmed the transfer of 25,000 tons of fuel to Poland. It became known recently that Poland delivered almost all spare parts and ammunition for MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine.
