Ukrainians mostly spend more than 4 hours a day on the Internet, while active users spend more than 8 hours.

This is stated in the 2023 results of the research company Gradus Research, according to Ukrinform’s report.

Referring to the results of the relevant study, the report says, “Society is increasingly digital; mostly Ukrainians spend more than 4 hours a day on the Internet, and active users spend more than 8 hours.”

It is noted that this concept of constant “online” manifests itself in regular searches for relevant information, “controlling communication” with relatives on messengers and purchasing goods on the Internet.

Especially at the beginning of the pandemic, offline and online shopping were competing with each other, and the former was more common as people had the habit of physically going to stores and choosing products. There was even deeper online interaction between Ukrainians during the war.

The survey shows that more than a quarter of Ukrainians prefer online shopping, while another 38% shop both online and offline.

In addition, messengers remain the most popular media for news consumption among Ukrainians (70%), but the importance of short video content is also growing. Respondents are increasingly choosing YouTube (56%) compared to March 2023 (50%). The value of television as a news channel also increased (38% versus 42%).

According to sociologists, the fact that people increasingly prefer video content formats may be an indication of tiredness of reading news and the increasing popularity of the video blog format. This can also be explained by the fact that at the beginning of the war the Ukrainians preferred to receive the most operational information that could be published as quickly as possible in text format. Now that events are developing in a more moderate manner, people are ready to expect more visual videos rather than consuming fast formats.

The survey was conducted by Gradus Research on September 5-7, 2023. A survey was administered to 1,896 participants using the self-filling method in the mobile application.

According to Ukrinform, the wife of Ukrainian President Olena Zelenska participated in the All-Ukrainian mental health program “How are you?” published tips on healthy media consumption created within the framework of.
