On the evening of Friday, January 5, China sent four meteorological satellites “Tianmu-1” (Tianmu-1) into space. This mission was China’s first space launch in the new year.
Xinhua reported this, as reported by Ukrinform.
The Kuaizhou-1A launch vehicle, traditionally launched from the Jiuquan Cosmodrome in the Gobi Desert in northwestern China, launched the spacecraft into near-Earth orbits.
It was reported that Tianmu-1 satellites numbered 19, 20, 21 and 22 will be included in the meteorology satellite group and will be used to collect data on the global atmosphere and provide commercial services in the field of meteorology.
The preliminary launch of meteorological satellites of the “Tianmu-1” family was carried out on December 27.
The Kuaizhou-1A launch vehicle has a length of 19.4 m, a diameter of 1.4 m and a launch mass of 30 tons. It is a high-reliability, relatively inexpensive solid-fuel rocket designed to launch satellites weighing less than 300 kg into low Earth orbit.
Since March 22 last year, such rockets have carried out five missions and sent 20 satellites into orbit.
Today’s mission was the 25th flight of Kuizhou-1A.
As Ukrinform reported, on Tuesday, January 2, the American company SpaceX launched 21 more Starlink internet satellites into orbit.
