If you’re wondering when Sony will launch the PS5 Pro console, I’m sorry to inform you that we still don’t have an official date to confirm, but thanks to Tom Henderson, a well-known and reliable insider, I can give you an approximate date when it could be unveiled, in the third quarter of the year, i.e. between the months of July, August and September.

Henderson posted this estimate to deny rumors that have surfaced in recent days that said Sony could introduce the PS5 Pro at CES 2024. whose celebration will take place from January 9 to 12 although there will be a special kick-off event on January 8 with several important conferences.

In the event that this information turns out to be true, it is important to keep this in mind presentation and launch are not the same thing. By that I mean that the presentation could take place in the third quarter of the year and its launch could be moved to the fourth quarter. There is also the possibility of simultaneous presentation and launch, but I see this as less likely.

Regarding the PS5 Pro, I have already given you a lot of information in previous articles, but if you want my personal assessment as a professional, I am inclined to favor the rumors that point to a configuration with A slightly faster Zen 2 processor, 16GB of faster GDDR6 memory, and a Radeon RDNA 3 or higher GPU more powerful and with new functions.

I don’t rule out integrating a dedicated AI solution to drive the new intelligent scaling technology, in fact I think it makes a lot of sense and We have a precedent that we saw in the PS4 Pro, a console that adopted checkerboard spatial scaling technology. It is also information that is unofficially confirmed, so it has all the potential to be fulfilled.

For the rest, I would bet on keeping the 1 TB SSD and on the configuration with and without an optical drive to offer two different price ranges and appeal to a larger number of users. And speaking of price, I would guess 600 euros for a model with an optical drive and 500 for the model without an optical drive. As a result, the price of the PS5 would drop to 400 euros for the model with an optical drive and 300 euros for the model without an optical drive.
