Even today, few games have managed to gain the recognition and prestige enjoyed by the veterans Portal and Portal 2., games signed by Valve that, despite being on their way to 17 and 13 years, continue to offer a hugely enjoyable gaming experience that doesn’t seem like time has passed. Unlike other titles that look “old” a few years after launch, I have no doubt that if we talk about them again in ten years, their gameplay design will still be fully up to date.

In any case, if there’s one element that could age a little worse, it’s the graphics, but in that respect The portal is experiencing a second youth thanks to the portal with RTX. a re-release of the game for free for those who already had the original, and which uses NVIDIA technology to make it really high level, as we already told you in the technical analysis of the top RTX 30 and RTX 40 series.

As you probably already know, Prelude is an unofficial development that is distributed for free as a mod for the original Portal, and is chronologically a prequel to what was experienced in the 2007 title.

So, Yesterday, Portal: Revolution was released on Steam, a mod that runs on Portal 2 and, like Prelude, adds new levels and challenges to the original game. In this case, the plot is located between the two original games and, according to its creators, it offers us no less than 40 new levels, which, thanks to the innovation in the use of existing mechanics and their complexity, could provide us with up to 8 hours of gameplay (although they claim that the average will be between five and seven, depending on our expertise).

We find ourselves face to face again a completely free mod, but with a level that is not to be envied by many paid DLCs (on the contrary, I could have learned more from one developer…), and its creators confirm that they have done quite a lot of tests with multiple users of different profiles to confirm that all the challenges that Portal: Revolution brings, even if they are complex, most players can solve them.
