It’s been a few months since OpenAI introduced GPT for ChatGPT, in the most exciting of announcements made at the inaugural OpenAI DevDay keynote held in early November last year. As we told you back then, GPT is a personalized chatbot, ChatGPT, to which we can add additional data sources to GPT and also condition responses on parameters we see fit.

Although there is nothing stopping us from creating one of these GPTs for our personal use or for our professional environment, the most interesting thing is that the developers who create these personalized chatbots They could monetize them through the store, which it was hinted at the time would begin its deployment in a few days (from announcement). And this is very interesting, because a chatbot with high specialization and at the same time reliability can be a very interesting tool and therefore worth trying.

We were still waiting for the ChatGPT store to launch when suddenly there was a tsunami in OpenAI with the firing and subsequent reinstatement of Sam Altman. A crisis that undoubtedly affected every plan of the company, and we can also include the deployment of the store. And while it was no surprise, shortly after Altman’s reinstatement, a long-awaited trial began due to a lawsuit filed by a huge group of writers. We understand that the company had too many queues open, to which we must add the privacy concerns of GPTs… come on, it didn’t seem like the best time for such a launch.

However, it seems that the company has started to see some open skies and as a result they are renewing their plans. So as we can read in The Verge, OpenAI informs developers that the ChatGPT store will open next week. More precisely, the mentioned information is sent to the so-called Creators of GPT and in it they are alerted to the conditions they must meet in order to offer their GPT brands in the chatbot store.

However, it is important to note at this point that OpenAI still did not explain to developers how they would be rewarded for using personalized chatbots. He expressed his intention for developers to be rewarded based on their usage, but it hasn’t been developed yet, at least not publicly. In this way, we can understand that using GPT will be free for ChatGPT Plus users, and that therefore GPT Builders payments will come from the collection of monthly OpenAI fees of its premium users.
