iPhone “survived” after falling from a height of 5 km

Alaska Airlines’ Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft made an emergency landing at Portland Airport on January 5 after losing part of its fuselage while flying at an altitude of approximately 5 km. None of the 177 passengers on board were injured, but some of their belongings appear to have fallen overboard during the incident. So, a message appeared on the X network from a person who found the iPhone that fell from the plane.

A person named Seanathan Bates posted a photo of the iPhone in a protective case on his account. He said the smartphone was found on the side of the road while walking along Barnes Road. Bates also reported that the smartphone was in working order, its battery was half charged, and airplane flight mode was active.

Electronic baggage claim for the nearly disastrous Alaska Airlines flight was also displayed on the screen. From this, Bates concluded that the iPhone had fallen from the plane and survived the fall from an altitude of approximately 5 km.

Interestingly, based on the published image, it was not possible to determine which model it was related to; It could be iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro. After finding the smartphone, Bates contacted a National Transportation Safety Board officer, who informed him that this was the second smartphone found since the last incident. Bates’ post has received several million views and tens of thousands of likes since it was published.
