America’s Peregrine moon mission, which launched on Monday, encountered technical problems, including a loss of power, during its test flight.
According to Ukrinform, this situation was reported by the BBC.
Astrobotic said the spacecraft encountered an anomaly that prevented it from continuously pointing its solar panels toward the Sun.
Without the ability to charge batteries and maintain electrical power, the mission will not be able to continue.
Astrobotic added that engineers are working on a solution to the problem.
United Launch Alliance successfully launched its first Vulcan Centaur rocket into space on Monday, Ukrinform reported. It will carry the special Astrobotic Peregrine lander to the Moon as part of the test flight.
The Peregrine mission will attempt the first US moon landing since Apollo 17 in 1972.
