This Borrell’s fourth trip to the region since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip on October 7, following repeated attacks by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas on Israeli territory.

“The people of Gaza are desperate. They cannot wait for the day after tomorrow, for them the day after tomorrow was yesterday,” Borrell lamented.

For its part, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the head of European diplomacy, Bin Farhan, focused on the situation in the Palestinian enclave and “the efforts made in this regard, especially in humanitarian matters,” without providing further details.
