South Korea plans to use artificial intelligence (AI) surveillance technology at some advanced border posts along the border with North Korea.
This was reported by Yonhap, according to Ukrinform’s report.
According to the South Korean Defense Procurement Administration (DA)
PA), a new system with increased monitoring capabilities will be implemented in Eastern Front General Patrol Stations and coastal units by the end of the year.
The agency added that the system uses artificial intelligence-based analysis technology to detect people and animals and is equipped with a thermal imager and shortwave infrared technology to enhance surveillance capabilities in adverse weather conditions.
The implementation of the system is also expected to improve the service conditions of the army by minimizing false alarms.
“We will accelerate the deployment of the artificial intelligence system and actively use it in security operations to optimize readiness,” said Land Forces Commander General Song Shik.
According to Ukrinform, the North Korean army has been bombing the coastline in the islands region on the South Korean border for several days.
