A few days ago we warned you that her performance was coming, and finally the predictions came true. MSI The Claw has been officially presented and the truth is that thanks to the change in processor we have found an interesting approach because it also means using completely different GPU and implementing, in addition, a neural processing unit.

MSI The Claw console moves away from the Ryzen Z1 Extreme which are used by other portable consoles such as the ASUS ROG Ally and has committed to new processors Intel Core Ultra, based on the architecture of Redwood Cove in its high-performance cores and Crestmont in its high-efficiency and low-power cores.

In terms of design, the MSI The Claw console does very similar to the ASUS ROG Ally, but with different nuances which give it its own personality. However, the most important changes are, as I said at the beginning, in the hardware that MSI used to give life to this new console.

MSI The Claw: specifications

MSI The Claw

  • 7-inch IPS display with 1080p resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, 500 nit brightness, touch interface and 100% reproduction of the sRGB color space.
  • Intel Core Ultra 5-135 H processor in the basic configuration and Intel Core Ultra 7-155H in the most powerful version.
  • Intel Core Ultra 5-135H has 4 P cores, 8 E cores and 2 LP cores. Intel Core Ultra 7-155H has 6 P cores, 8 E cores and 2 LP cores.
  • Intel Arc Graphics Xe-LPG GPU with up to 7 Xe blocks (8 blocks for Intel Core Ultra 7-155H) compatible with Intel XeSS. Speeds up ray tracing.
  • 16 GB of LPDDR5 memory at 6,400 MHz.
  • 512 GB or 1 GB PCIe Gen4 x4 SSD.
  • Two 2W stereo speakers.
  • Thunderbolt 4 connector (DisplayPort and charging).
  • microSD card reader.
  • 3.5mm jack connector for audio input and output.
  • Fingerprint reader.
  • Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity.
  • Battery 53 Wh.
  • Windows 11 as an operating system.
  • Weight 675 grams.

Processors are limited to TDP 28 watts, which means that the performance we can expect from the Intel Core Ultra 7-155H should be similar to what we got when analyzing the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED. If confirmed, which is most likely, MSI will offer The Claw console good performance in 1080p games and medium or medium high quality, depending on the specific requirements of each degree.

Price and availability

The console MSI The Claw will hit the market in the first quarter of the year and its version with Intel Core Ultra 5-135H and 512 GB of storage will cost $699. The version with Intel Core Ultra 7-155H and SSD with a capacity of 1 TB will cost $799. Exchange prices in euros They should remain at 699 and 799 euros.
