Astronomers find an explanation for the Fermi paradox

Astronomers from the Technical University of Berlin and the University of London have proposed the most likely explanation for the Fermi paradox. The essence of the latter is that there is no evidence of extraterrestrial civilizations, although they most likely exist.

As reported in the journal Nature Astronomy, the new study provides an overview of popular hypotheses explaining the Fermi paradox. There are two most likely scenarios. Or other civilizations are completely absent from our Milky Way galaxy. Or the real hypothesis that the zoo is like this, but they carefully avoid contact with humans.

Astronomer Frank Tipler calculated in 1980 that extraterrestrials could explore our entire galaxy in less than 300 million years if armed with self-replicating von Neumann probes. However, their existence has not been detected so far. Some experts therefore tend to come to the pessimistic conclusion that we are alone, at least within the boundaries of our galaxy.

Other scientists are more optimistic. They put forward the version that aliens still exist. Perhaps there are not so many of them in our immediate environment, they are a kind of “scouts” from more distant worlds. But they do not consciously intervene in our lives, they just observe. And high technologies make it possible to remain unnoticed. Source
