Lenovo introduced Magic Bay Studio, an impressive 4K webcam solution with built-in speakers, debuting at CES 2024. Magic Bay Studio, scheduled to launch in April for $199.99, promises advanced 4K camera technology, but 4K resolution is only supported in some apps. The webcam does not have a built-in microphone, requiring the use of external or built-in laptop microphones during conference calls.

Magic Bay Studio stands out with its 1/1.28-inch CMOS sensor that offers up to 4x digital zoom, autofocus, HDR, and a 90° universal field of view (FOV) that can be digitally cropped to 65° or 78°. The camera also features a lens cover for privacy when not in use. Lenovo, which has the ability to record 4K at 30 frames per second, does not specify whether there is a 60 frames per second mode.

Moreover, Magic Bay Studio improves sound quality by combining a pair of 2W speakers. When connected to a Magic Bay-compatible Lenovo laptop, the total number of speakers increases from four to six, providing a wider soundstage for impressive audiovisual effects during meetings or presentations.

In addition to Magic Bay Studio, Lenovo is expanding the Magic Bay ecosystem with innovative peripherals. Prototypes showcased at CES 2024 include a removable SSD for easy expansion and sharing of storage, offering users the ability to add up to several terabytes of storage to their laptops.

Another notable addition is the optional Magic Bay display, which provides a 10-inch panel above the laptop’s existing display for a dual-screen setup. This unique mount offers a visually appealing way to extend your display and increase productivity.

Lenovo is also experimenting with a circular fixed display designed to connect to AI software on a laptop. Not designed to display apps or data, this small screen acts as an animated face for the device’s AI assistant, adding an immersive and personalized touch to the user’s interaction with the AI ​​companion.

Although the Magic Bay Studio is scheduled to launch in April for $199.99, Lenovo has yet to confirm European pricing or availability.
