At CES 2024, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Robert Bosch GmbH have introduced the automotive industry’s first vehicle central computer capable of performing infotainment and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) functions on a single system on a chip (SoC). Bosch has unveiled a new vehicle central computer, known as the cockpit, and an ADAS integration platform based on the Snapdragon Ride™ Flex SoC. The companies’ collaboration on the new Bosch cab and ADAS integration platform is the result of their long-standing collaboration to develop highly consolidated solutions that shape the future of software-defined vehicles. Together, the companies have successfully implemented several projects in the field of in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems and have built a strong global customer base in this field.

Building on Qualcomm Technologies’ leadership in digital cockpit and ADAS computing platforms, the Flex SoC is designed to support mixed-criticality workloads by allowing digital cockpit, ADAS, and automated driving (AD) capabilities to be deployed together in a single SoC. This unique capability allows automakers to create unified core computing and software-defined vehicle architectures that scale from entry-level to premium. Using Flex SoC, Bosch’s new car computer can realize a rich user experience through infotainment functions, vehicle lifecycle management, as well as digital cluster and ADAS functions such as object/traffic light/lane detection, automatic parking, intelligent and personalized navigation , voice assistance, control. for multiple screens, as well as processing data from cameras, radars and ultrasounds.

Bosch’s extensive capabilities in infotainment, instrumentation and ADAS have helped the company remain one of the leading automotive suppliers in the industry. With a new cab and ADAS integration platform and combined hardware and software capabilities, Bosch can offer a clear competitive cost advantage, delivering unprecedented value to its customers.

“We are excited to work with Bosch to enable our Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC to power their new vehicle mainframe, further highlighting our shared commitment to technological innovation in the automotive space,” said Nakul Duggal, senior vice president and general manager of automotive and cloud computing at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “Combining infotainment and ADAS functionality into a single system-on-chip is an important milestone for the industry, offering automakers a scalable and high-performance solution to enable the next generation of software-defined vehicles.”“.

“With the cockpit and ADAS integration platform, we can demonstrate our knowledge and experience in various areas. “We are proud to be the first Tier 1 vendor to demonstrate interoperability of system functions from previously separate domains on a single mainframe in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies,” said Christoph Hartung, President of Bosch’s Cross-Domain Computing Solutions division. “With this cost-effective solution, we are paving the way for even more ADAS features to be introduced into vehicles, even in the entry- and mid-level segment.”

The new Bosch cab and ADAS integration platform will be on display by invitation only at the Bosch booth at CES 2024 in Las Vegas from January 9 to 12.
