“President Daniel Noboa has our full, unlimited support. Please don’t give up. We will discuss our political differences the day after the victory.”

The former president, who has lived in Belgium since his decade-long government ended in 2017, said the country was living in a nightmare but said “the state must emerge victorious.”

“My compatriots, the country is going through a real nightmare, something unthinkable, unimaginable.

“But today is the time for national unity. Organized crime has declared war on the state, and if it wins, then the state must win.”

Correa also heads the overseas Citizens’ Revolution movement, the largest group in the National Assembly (Parliament), which supports a temporary legislative agreement with the ruling party.

The former president asked Noboa to “replace the thousands of police officers who are absurdly occupying bureaucratic positions with civilian personnel or retired police officers and put them on the streets.”

And he repeated that in this crusade against crime and organized crime, “The Motherland will win.”

Violence has escalated over the past few days, and on Tuesday there were dozens of terrorist attacks with the seizure of a television channel and attacks on hospitals, shopping centers and universities in different cities of the country.

President of Ecuador declares internal armed conflict and calls for military action

Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa, in a decree, declared the existence of an “internal armed conflict” in the country and ordered the Armed Forces to take action after armed men seized the TC Televisión channel in full live broadcast.

“I have signed a decree declaring an internal armed conflict,” Noboa wrote in a post on his X account, noting that he referred to transnational organized crime groups as “terrorist organizations and belligerent non-state actors.”

Among them he listed “Águilas, ÁguilasKiller, Ak47, Caballeros Oscuros, ChoneKiller, Choneros, Coviceros, Cuartel de las Feas, Cubanos, Fatales, Gánster, Kater Piler, Lagartos, Latin Kings, Lobos, Los p.27, Los Tiburones, Mafia 18, Mafia Trebol, Cartridges, R7, Tigerones.”

And he added that he ordered the Armed Forces to carry out military operations to neutralize these groups. (EFE)
