The violent events began at two o’clock in the afternoon and began when a group of at least ten hooded men with high-powered weapons entered the TC television channel in the city of Guayaquil in southwestern Ecuador and subdued its employees during a live broadcast.

Live footage shows several hooded men with guns holding the canal workers on the ground and demanding that they ask the police to leave the area.

The pictures show armed men carrying machine guns and explosive cartridges and beating workers.

Ecuavisa notes that civilians entered the TC Televisión channel at 14:18, and at 14:30 shots and screams were heard. One worker had a stick of dynamite stuffed into his jacket.

At 2:34 p.m., the lights on the set went out, and at 2:39 p.m., the signal was turned off.
