Google has released Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3 for eligible Pixel devices. Available since January 10, this update focuses primarily on bug fixes and stability improvements.

Like the previous QPR2 Beta 2, the update is compatible with Pixel 5a to 8 Pro devices, including the Pixel Fold and tablet. To receive updates over-the-air, you must sign up for the Android Beta Program. Alternatively, you can download and install updates manually.

The QPR 2 Beta 3 update has build number AP11.231215.007 and comes with the January 2024 security patch. And this was thought:

Issues reported by developers and users

  • Fixed an issue where SPIR-V arrays of OpShiftLeft followed by OpShiftRight did not produce the expected results for ARM Vulkan drivers 43.0 and 44.0 (issue #314048080).

Other resolved issues

  • Fixed an issue where multi-finger gestures would sometimes stop working.
  • Fixed the issue where the device screen would not turn on when double-tapping the screen or pressing the power button.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused higher than normal CPU load when playing videos.
  • Fixed a system issue that sometimes caused poor audio quality or high power consumption when making calls.
  • Fixed an issue where the keyboard was always displayed even if the “Swipe up to start search” option was disabled in System Preferences.
  • Fixed the issue where haptic feedback was sometimes missing when the user unlocked the device with their fingerprint.
  • Fixed an issue on Pixel Fold devices where sometimes the internal screen would not turn on after the device was turned on after unlocking from a folded state.
  • Fixed various issues affecting system stability, performance, connectivity, camera, and accessibility.

To check for the QPR2 Beta 3 update, go to Settings > System > Software Update. If available, click System Update to download it. You can download OTA or ready-made image for manual installation.

Quarterly Platform Releases (QPRs) are generally considered “good for general use” so you shouldn’t run into any major issues. However, keep in mind that this is still a beta version, so some glitches may be overlooked. If you don’t like living on the edge, you may want to wait for the official release.
