What happened

The “Memorial” project was created in the spring of 2022. He collected and preserved the stories of Ukrainian defenders and civilians who died as a result of Russian aggression. A total of 5,440 posts were published during this period.

As project coordinator Yevhen Spirin reported on his Facebook page, the “Memorial” page was blocked 4 times from October to December. And already in December 2023, the moderators of the American company deleted it forever.

Maybe Meta doesn’t want the screams of children to be encased in concrete in the happy life of Instagram. Or maybe “just like that”. But that won’t stop the “Monument”
– wrote Yevhen Spirin.

As the coordinator noted in the Mass Information Institute comments, Meta did not respond to requests regarding the reasons for the removal of the page..

It is worth noting that meta social networks have repeatedly been noticed deleting or hiding war-related posts, blocking activists, journalists and other Ukrainian citizens who are trying to convey information about Russia’s crimes to the world.
