Colombian prosecutors have officially charged Nicolás Petro, the eldest son of Colombian President Gustavo Petro, with alleged crimes committedmoney laundering and illicit enrichment as part of his election campaign.

The Specialized Court of Barranquilla scheduled preparatory hearings for the case on April 29 and 20 after Peter presented his defense and asked for the case to be annulled.

Such revocation was rejected.

According to Colombian prosecutors, the son of the current president “unjustifiably increased his assets” by a total of 1.053 million pesos.

According to the indictment, he had “secret monetary gains from 2021 until the end of 2022.”

Some of the money allegedly used by Pacto Histérico for the 2022 election campaign will come from drug trafficker Samuel “Marlboro Man” Santander and businessman Alfonso Hilsachi, who has previously denied the allegations.

CTI’s accounting and financial experts determined that Petro Burgos apparently did not declare the flow of these resources into its assets.

They also identified several expenses that could not be offset by the purchasing power that the then-MP had. (Europe Press).
