Starting January 26, users of Assistant features will receive a notification that these features will be discontinued, with most features disappearing entirely on February 26.

The removal of assistant features will impact mobile devices, smartwatches, and smart speakers/displays. Some functions, especially the Calm meditation service, will be removed completely. Google has said it will offer alternatives to rebuild some services, but these are not direct equivalents to many of the removed features.

Specifically, features that will soon be unavailable include the ability to play and control audiobooks on Google Play Books using your voice and the ability to set and use music or radio alarms on Google Assistant-enabled devices. It will also soon be impossible to use voice to send emails, videos or voice messages.

Users will not be able to move events from Google Calendar using their voice or voice-request certain actions, such as sending payments, booking tickets, or posting to social networks.

Voice control of activities will no longer be available on Fitbit Sense and Versa 3 devices. You will need to use the buttons on the device to start, stop, pause and resume activities.

Viewing sleep summaries will only be possible on Google Smart Displays.

The company is also changing the way the microphone works in the Google app and Pixel search bar, so users will no longer be able to use the microphone to perform actions like turning on the lights.
