SAMSUNG Releases January 2024 security patch for various Galaxy smartphones starting from Galaxy S23and the popular Galaxy S22 and S21 families. The update, identified as firmware versions S91xBXXS3BWL3 for S23, S90xBXXS7DWL3 for S22, and G99xBXXS9FWL9 for S21, weighs approximately 400 MB and fixes a significant number of vulnerabilities.
Specifically, it addresses approximately 75 vulnerabilities, most of which are classified as “high” priority; This means it can be potentially exploited by attackers. One of the critical fixes is a vulnerability in the Notification Service on devices running Android 11-14. This issue could allow an attacker to access your personal information.
Another important fix addresses a high-level vulnerability in the Bluetooth connection process, preventing attackers from connecting their devices to your phone without your permission.
Although not explicitly confirmed, the update may also include Samsung’s long-awaited anti-burn screen measures. The company acknowledged the issue in December and promised to fix it “in the next release of the update.” However, it remains unclear whether this particular patch delivers on this promise.
If you have not received the update yet, you can manually check it by going to Settings > Software Update on your device. Looking ahead, Samsung is preparing for the inevitable launch of the series Galaxy S24 January 17. The event promises to introduce the next generation of flagship smartphones Samsung, Galaxy S24, S24 Plus and S24 UltraIt is expected to show significant advantages over its predecessors.
In addition to new hardware, SAMSUNG is also set to showcase “Galaxy AI”, artificial intelligence approaches that combine on-device services with cloud-enabled services.
