Apple abandoned the idea of increasing the production of new smartphones due to a number of problems. This was reported by Bloomberg.
Several sources told the agency that the company will resume iPhone production in 2021. Yes, the American company plans to launch more than 220 million next-generation smartphones by the end of the year. This is a conservative estimate – previously Apple planned to produce at least 240 million devices.
Bloomberg experts described the main reason for the decline as the strongest inflation in decades, supply chain problems, the unstable situation in Ukraine. Strategy Analytics predicts that in 2022, the total supply of smartphones will decrease by two percent.
According to journalists, the global smartphone market is falling, the problems are not only in Apple. Global device shipments have dropped 11 percent, the worst since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic two years ago. “Geopolitical issues, component shortages, inflation, exchange rate volatility and quarantine will continue to impact the smartphone market in the first half of 2022, but before the situation improves in the second half,” said Linda Sui, senior director of Strategy Analytics.
