Technology companies in Japan are developing autonomous and remote control technology for snow blowers.

This was reported by NHK, as reported by Ukrinform.

As an aging population creates a severe shortage of road workers, companies are increasing their efforts in this area.

In particular, Japan’s NTT Communications is working on the development of remote control technology for snow removal equipment.

The company is integrating a location system and 5G communications that allow operators to remotely control snowplows by viewing footage from on-board video cameras.

The plan is to first introduce the technology for car parks and other private areas in the next financial year, starting in April.

Meanwhile, NEC is working with the Central Nippon Expressway Corporation to develop self-driving technology that allows multiple snowplows to operate simultaneously on highways.

It is noted that such technologies will be of key importance in protecting human life and ensuring public comfort in snowy regions.

According to Ukrinform, the Japan Meteorological Administration announced that there was heavy snowfall in the western and northern regions along the Japan Sea coast in December.
