Japanese automaker Suzuki suspended operations at its factory in Hungary this week after Houthi fighters attacked ships passing through the Red Sea.
This was reported by NHK, as reported by Ukrinform.
The plant will be closed from January 15 to 21, Suzuki said, adding that parts deliveries from Japan and other countries are behind schedule. The parts required to assemble the products will probably start arriving early next Monday.
It was noted that the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea affected the global automotive industry.
American electric car manufacturer Tesla announced that it will suspend most of the production at its factory in Germany from January 29 to February 11.
Japanese automakers Toyota and Nissan also have plants in Europe but have said they use safer routes to source components.
According to Ukrinform, a missile fired by the Houthis hit a merchant ship near the Yemeni coast in the Gulf of Aden on Monday.
