The United States announced the end of an entire military era after the sinking of the Russian Navy’s flagship missile cruiser “Moscow”. According to The Atlantic, the war in Ukraine forced the United States to reconsider its military.
The author of the article, former Marine Corps officer Elliot Ackermann, explained that the United States Armed Forces is focusing on the idea of ”platforms” that are technologically advanced and extremely expensive.
At the same time, the Javelin anti-tank missile and the Stinger anti-aircraft system became “branded” weapons in Ukraine. According to the columnist, the US should invest in the development of new technologies to create the “army of tomorrow.”
“The whole military era went to the bottom with the Russian Navy’s cruiser ‘Moscow’. Moving away from a platform-oriented view of warfare is a question of both civilization and resources, ”says Elliot Ackermann.
