Wang Zhuoxiao, an astronomer at Tsinghua University in Beijing, explained that this phenomenon may be related to the launch of SpaceX’s Falcon 9 launch vehicle at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California on January 14. The rocket then launched another group of Starlink satellites into orbit.

The scientist assumed that the glowing object was excess fuel that the rocket ejected during flight. Another Chinese astronomer made a similar assumption. According to him, something similar was observed in the skies of China last September: It was later revealed that the UFO was a cloud consisting of fuel from a SpaceX rocket.
