You might have already guessed it: Samsung has released AI phones. The focus of the announcement is primarily on artificial intelligence with an AI assistant within the Samsung shell of Android. Noticeable: Bixby, the current voice assistant, is not mentioned.

Samsung’s flagship is receiving a subtle but thorough update. The bezels around the device are a little narrower and the curved edge of the screen is a thing of the past. The 10x optical zoom (10 MP), previously paired with a 3x optical zoom (10 MP), is being deleted. It is replaced by a 5x optical zoom, although with a 50 MP sensor. According to Samsung, this allows for further zoom than the 10x zoom variant without sacrificing quality.
Every camera sensor, except for the 12-megapixel wide-angle camera, has optical image stabilization (IOS) on board. “Fast charging” is possible using an optional Power Delivery-compatible charger up to a maximum of 45 watts. The battery measures 5,000 mAh and there is space for the pen in the housing. Like the iPhone 15 Pro devices, the casing is made of titanium.
Otherwise, the technical specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra are quite similar to those of its predecessor. The 6.8-inch OLED screen is again represented with a variable refresh rate between 1 and 120 Hz. For the first time, this phone features Gorilla Glass Armor glass, which Samsung says provides 75 percent less reflection in different lighting conditions.
New year, new chip: Inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, tuned by the manufacturer to get a little more performance. In parallel, you have 12 GB of RAM and three storage options: 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB. . This smartphone is the first Samsung smartphone to support WiFi 7. All you need is a compatible WiFi 7 router to maximize the faster WiFi speeds.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will be available starting January 31st in four colors: gray, black, purple or yellow. Prices start at 1,449 euros including VAT.
The design of the Samsung Galaxy S24 and the larger S24 Plus remains unchanged. Compared to the S24 Ultra, there is no titanium frame, no new zoom lens (but the standard 3x optical zoom) and no Qualcomm chip. In return, it includes Samsung’s own Exynos 2400 chip, without WiFi 7 (but WiFi 6E). The S24 has 8 GB of RAM on board, the Plus variant has 12 GB of RAM.
The Galaxy S24 has a compact 6.2-inch screen (OLED, 1-120 Hz, FHD+), the larger S24 Plus has a 6.7-inch screen (OLED, 1-120 Hz, QHD+). Both have a 12MP wide-angle camera, a 50MP main camera and a 10MP 3x optical zoom. Only the main camera has iOS.
Just like the Ultra, you can charge the S24 Plus using an optional 45-watt charger. The smaller S24 supports up to 25 watts. Samsung has little interest in getting on the fast-charging bandwagon this year either.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus will be available starting January 31st in four colors: black, gray, purple and yellow. The S24 is available from 899 euros, the S24 Plus from 1,149 euros. Both prices include VAT.
