“We need to listen more to the concerns of our workers, youth and older generations and pay less attention to the empty promises of some Silicon Valley gurus who are more interested in gaining followers or claiming the Forbes list than in the real progress of humanity, ” – said Sanchez.

In his opinion, it is important not to ignore ordinary people’s concerns about artificial intelligence threats and to “mount an effective and coordinated response” to them. “I believe that artificial intelligence and other similar technologies are the best technology we have to tackle problems such as aging, environmental crisis, the spread of diseases and low productivity. If we use them correctly, they will enable us to achieve incredible levels of prosperity. “However, we should not ignore the threats due to the existence of such an opportunity,” he emphasized.

With this in mind, he called for the adoption of global regulations in the field of digitalization.

“Now more than ever, the world needs digital global governance; governance that will protect the fundamental rights of citizens against the interests of states and corporations; a government that will respond to the cyber threats, deepfakes, poisonous lies floating around the internet that threaten our democracy and the safety of our children; Governance to ensure that AI systems do not contain discriminatory biases and that old injustices are not repeated, while encouraging innovation and investment to advance these technologies,” Sanchez concluded.

According to Ukrinform, members of the European Parliament, representatives of EU member states and experts from the European Commission reached a political agreement on the artificial intelligence law.
