Artificial intelligence company OpenAI has banned the use of its technologies in political campaigns and lobbying.
According to Ukrinform, The Washington Post is reporting on this issue.
OpenAI said in a blog post on Monday that it would not allow it to use AI technology to create programs for political campaigns and lobbying efforts to prevent people from voting or spreading misinformation about the voting process.
“We work to predict and prevent related abuses, such as deceptive ‘deepfakes,’ large-scale influence operations, or chatbots impersonating candidates,” the blog says.
Additionally, the company announced that it will begin placing embedded watermarks on images created with the DALL-E image creator “early this year.”
OpenAI’s moves come as other tech companies revamp their election policies to cope with the AI boom. Google, for example, said in December that it would limit the types of answers its AI tools provide to election-related questions. The company also said it would require political campaigns that buy ads from Google to report when they use artificial intelligence.
As reported, in early January, the company OpenAI changed its policy on using its technology for military purposes, removing language about the ban.
