The Red Hat Developer Hub is generally available. The solution is based on the Cloud Native Foundation’s Backstage project and aims to increase developer productivity and efficiency through a centralized platform.
The hub centralizes all important information, such as access to various consoles, a software catalog and documentation, via a self-service portal. There is also space for software templates. The tool is not only useful for existing development teams, but also makes adding new members to a team much easier.
Like Backstage, the Red Hat Developer Hub offers space for plugins. You can manage, install and remove them dynamically. Red Hat already provides a plugin for this Role-based access Control that allows administrators to better control who gets access to what. Red Hat also offers integration with its own OpenShift solution.
Red Hat is confident that the Developer Hub will help developers manage complexity and lack of standardization and combat the mental burden associated with it.
