Samsung introduces the Galaxy Ring: a ring with sensors to measure health indicators. What the thing can actually do is still a mystery.

Samsung had another surprise in store at the end of its Galaxy Unpacked event. It showed a short teaser of the Galaxy Ring: a smart device set to launch soon. The Galaxy Ring is not just a ring, but a ring equipped with smart sensors.

The one ring

The concept of a smart ring is certainly not new and it was no secret that Samsung was working on it. Still, no one expected to get a first look at the device. Especially because Samsung has revealed little to nothing about the Galaxy Ring. No release date, price or even what the ring should be able to do.

The ring will be part of Samsung’s smart wearables lineup and the sensors will likely be able to measure health indicators and your sleep. Think of it as a smartwatch that you can wear around your finger. We now have to wait until Samsung itself announces more information. The ring will most likely hit the market later this year.
