A robot ship is being prepared – a drone carrier

A ceremony was held in China last week to officially name the new 88-metre work ship preparing for a rapid takeoff. But the most interesting thing is that this ship “Zhu Hai Yun” is the world’s first carrier and coordinator of a group of 50 flying, guided and submarine drones that can solve a wide variety of tasks by joint efforts.

Construction of Zhu Hai Yun began in July last year at the Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard in Guangzhou. And as mentioned above, this ship and its automatic “team” are now almost ready for launch.

Zhu Hai Yun’s control system is not designed for independent navigation in port areas and other places with heavy sea traffic. In such areas, the ship will operate with the help of remote control and will have the freedom of independent movement and decision-making after entering open waters. Afterwards, the ship will act independently by following the programs set in it and fulfill the tasks assigned to it.

On board, Zhu Hai Yun is equipped with all the necessary equipment for launching, landing, boarding, robot boats and autonomous submarines. In addition, all launched drones will be in constant contact with the ship due to the availability of appropriate communication systems. The mission will be managed by the control system’s central computer, which will run “task-oriented software that can organize adaptive networks from drones, collect data, and compile three-dimensional representations of specific targets.”

“The highly intelligent drone is a new type of ship that will revolutionize ocean observation and research,” said Dake Chen, a professor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ School of Oceanography.

Finally, all Chinese media outlets are positioning Zhu Hai Yun as an automated platform for ocean research. However, information has emerged that this ship still has certain weapons that can “intercept and destroy offensive enemy targets.” Source
