It seems like a lie, but It’s been a month and a half (or just) since The Day Before was releaseda game that will remain forever and at worst a permanent record in the history of video games and most likely in the history of fraud, although those responsible strongly asked users not to accuse them of something so ugly .. Kind of like running away to slap someone, but for a few seconds before that I tell him (as a precaution of course) not to accuse me of hitting him.

Let’s make a little bit of history by remembering that The Day Before was announced in 2021, with a trailer that left many of us speechless, because both its graphical side and what we learned about the game were very good. The fact that the person responsible for the game was a small Russian studio Fntastic, with no experience in large-scale production, should have made us suspicious, and the same can be said for the more than close announced release date (2022), but it did not happen. stop us from worrying. to raise our hopes, to hope, yes, for further advances to confirm what was originally shown.

The launch was delayed, Fntastic stated that they had decided to change the graphics engine, but although this would mean a complete overhaul of the game, they stated that it would be ready and available in 2023. This set off even more alarms.and posting a new video from gameplayat the beginning of last year it was practically impossible not to start to assume that they were going to try to pull us by the leg.

The Day Before is officially dead

So We’re getting to December 8, 2023, the day The Day Before is released, although at this point we have to remind you that a few days before the studio posted an apology on Twitter, a curious way to warm up for the premiere, right? In the said report, as we have already told you here, they defended themselves against the charges which they knew with absolute certainty that they would receive. What I was left with from what was said in said report was that they assured that the game was not based on Unreal assets, something that the community took it upon themselves to demonstrate in about a week. Excusatio non petita

The game launched on Steam, as I said, on the eighth and just three days later, Fnstastic announced the studio’s closure, which obviously meant The Day Before wouldn’t receive the updates and improvements they promised. Of course, they stated that the servers would remain operational so that players who bought them wouldn’t be left without “enjoying” it (I guess there’s no need to explain the reason for the quotes in this case, right?). Obviously, a few days later, we learned that this would not be the case and that the servers already had a deadline: today.

In the last few days I have read several testimonials from users saying that they can no longer connect to the servers, which leads us to believe that the shutdown may have been at least partially pushed. But today, even for those who were able to enjoy the title just a few hours ago, a month and a half after the game went on sale, there was a definitive end to what we can call a new milestone of shamelessness shown by the sector, which should be reflected if not as a result of bad examples provided by third parties, as well as due to the virulent reaction that should begin to emerge from users. By all means let The Day Before stay in Hall of Fame shame.
