The celestial body named “2024 BX1” burned up after entering the Earth’s atmosphere on Sunday night, January 21, and its debris fell on Brandenburg, Germany.

This was reported by Radio Berlin-Brandenburg, as reported by Ukrinform (RBB).

According to the calculations of the American space agency NASA, the asteroid crashed near Nehnhausen in the Havelland region (just over 11 kilometers from the capital Berlin) at 01.32.

According to available data, no one and nothing was injured in the fall. At the same time, as reported in the media, local residents began to search for what could be left of the celestial body, since authentic remains may be of interest to experts and therefore cost from a few euros to several thousand euros, depending on its size.

The asteroid entered Earth’s atmosphere at a relatively low speed of only a few kilometers per second. According to the Minor Planet Center (MPC), the object with a diameter of approximately 1 meter was discovered by Hungarian astronomer Krysztian Sarnecki a few hours before it entered the atmosphere.

The “fireball” in the night sky was also visible in the area between Leipzig, Germany, and Prague, Czech Republic.

As reported by Ukrinform, asteroid 2002 AY1 flew near the Earth on January 8.
