Forget the plug!  This Mini-PC from Minisforum is powered by an Ethernet cable

The Minisforum S100-N100 is one of the new models that the Chinese specialist in compact and low-cost computers has prepared for the beginning of 2024 and stands out for its PoE support (Power over Ethernet), which allows you to power it from the mains cable and forget about power adapters and plugs.

This mini-PC is the size of a USB hub, small enough to carry in your pocket. It is powered by a low-cost, low-power Alder Lake-N processor, with an Intel N100 model ideal for this type of device, with 4 cores/threads and a maximum frequency of 3.4 GHz. 6 MB third-level cache, Intel UHD GPU with 32 execution units and a maximum frequency of 750 MHz. Its TDP is only 6 watts.

Miniforum S100-N100

The Minisforum S100-N100 has 8GB of single-channel LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage. It has a cooling system with a radiator and a fan for active cooling.

Wireless connectivity is provided by the form Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. It includes two USB 3.1 Type A ports, an HDMI port for external connection to displays, and a built-in microphone for voice input. The additional USB 3.1 Type-C port can be used for data transfer and power, although this is not necessary if you have access to a local network.

And the distinguishing aspect of this compact is the LAN connector 2.5 GbE and PoE (Power over Ethernet) support, which means you can have a high speed internet connection and power supply with one cable.

We don’t have the price of this Minisforum S100-N100, but we assume It will be quite economical and with availability this quarter. It pre-installs Windows 11 and although it is not particularly powerful, it may be interesting for basic computing, home theater or for use in various projects with features similar to individual Raspberry boards.
