Docker, powered by Qnap, introduces its new tool called Docker’s Build Cloud. This new service allows developers to put their image builds in the cloud, reducing build time by up to 39x. Users get a number of free minutes to get started with remote builds.

Building in the cloud

Last year at DockerCon, Docker introduced its own remote building service. Now Docker is introducing its own Docker Build Cloud, allowing developers to put their image builds in the cloud. With Docker’s Build Cloud, the company aims to provide a way to reclaim time without changing developer workflows and tools. According to Docker, this new service would reduce construction time by up to 39 times.

These construction accelerations are achieved by cleverly storing a lot of data in the cache. Docker also wants to provide developers with more transparency about how this cache is being used effectively. The company even wants to give users the option to choose a different cache size. Additionally, the company plans to introduce a new reporting feature that will allow users to see how much time they saved creating these remote builds.

Free minutes

Docker would like to give its customers a few free minutes to run these remote builds based on their subscription, including the free Docker Personal plan users. Docker is also exploring how the various products such as Docker Cloud Build and Docker Scout can work better together.
